PREGUNTAS FRECUENTES SOBRE TATUAJES

DOES A TATTOO REALLY HURT SO MUCH?

Everybody experiences pain in a very different way. Some will say they felt almost no pain whereas others compare the physical pain level to that of hair removal. Either way, the pain is absolutely bearable –remember that many people get tattooed many times over, thus it cannot be that bad. All our customers feel relaxed and comfortable enough during the session as to maintain casual and friendly conversations. All we are trying to say is that it is easy to put the pain aside and enjoy the experience.

WHERE IN THE BODY DOES A TATTOO HURT THE MOST/LEAST?

The least painful areas will always be those where you have relatively big muscles under your skin, such as the outer section of your arm and forearm, your calf or your thigh. The most painful ones are usually the rib cage area and all the joints, where bones, gristles and tendons are closer to the skin surface.

However, remember that all these data are based on average values and they might differ from one individual to another. In fact, during all these years, we have seen exceptions of all kindsand we have often come across people who experience no pain in allegedly painful areas and vice versa.

CAN MY NEW TATTOO OR PIERCING GET INFECTED?

If you follow the easy instructions we will give you, you should not experience any issue with your new tattoo or piercing.

CAN I GET AN ALLERGIC REACTION FROM MY NEW TATTOO?

La Trama Tattoo, all the pigments used are hypoallergenic. Nevertheless, some colours, like red or white, may take longer to heal than others, thus creating a sensation of itching that people tend to wrongly mix up with an allergic reaction. In all these instances, the pigment will settle into the skin even though sometimes it can take a little longer.

SHOULD I GET A NEW TATTOO IN SUMMER?

Absolutely, but only if certain conditions are met. Your tattoo must not get exposed to the sun directly within the first week, and neither you should dip it in saltwater, in a river nor in a swimming pool. After the first week you can resume your normal life, although always using a good sunscreen.

If you get tattooed in our studio, you probably are a tourist. Perhaps even you are just here for the summer so we recommend you to book your appointment as close to your departure time as possible, so you can enjoy your time in the beach and in Almería with nothing to worry about.

ONCE I GET MY NEW TATTOO, HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL I CAN RESUME MY SPORT PRACTICE?

After a week, you can practice any sport. However we discourage any sport practice before then, for sweat can have a harmful effect on your tattoo.

DO COLOUR PIGMENTS LOSE INTENSITY QUICKER THAN BLACK AND GREY?

No, this is just a myth. However, you will need to always to protect your tattoo by applying a good sunscreen onto it in order to maintainyourcolours bright and vibrant for as long as possible. Regardless of whether your tattoo is black and grey or a full-colour artwork, pigments tend to wither after a long time if sunscreen is not used. When exposing your body to the sun, whether you have tattoos or not, it is highly advisableto protect your skin with sunscreen.

QUESTIONS OF  PIERCINGS

DOES A PIERCING HURT A LOT?

Not really. In fact, the puncture is so quick that you barely notice it. The sensation varies depending on the body area, but it is totally bearable.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR TO GET MY NEW PIERCING?

The cold winter months are the best ones to help the piercing healing. On the contrary, warm temperatures, sunny weather, beach days and excessive sweating make the healing process a bit trickier. Some piercings are so easy to heal that you can either get them done in summer or winter (i.e. a piercing on the ear lobe, nostril or on the nose septum), whereas others, such as a piercing on the belly button, heal better in winter.

CAN MY SKIN REJECT THE NEW PIERCING?

Unfortunately yes, although it is not common. The best advice to prevent rejection from happening is to strictly follow your piercer’s instructions and to take care of your new piercing during the time they advise you, even if it looks that it has fully healed. Most of the times, when an issue with a new piercing arises, this is due to people not following the aftercare instructions because the piercing looks healed when in reality is not.

Finally, there are some cases in which the skin will try to expel the new piercing.

ARE PIERCINGS DONE WITH A NEEDLE OR WITH AN EARRING GUN?

At La Trama Tattoo we do all our piercings with a disposable catheter, or a disposable hollow needle, and all our piercings are made of non-allergic steel or titanium. We always advise against earring guns, for they are not hygienic and exert too much pressure on the skin against the piece, thus favouring inflammatory processes.
